Delton ROCKS (Reaching Our Community’s Kids with Support), a 501 c (3), began after a community prayer vigil in response to the tragic loss of several young lives to suicide.
Determined to make a difference, a group of passionate individuals pledged to use their gifts and talents to support local students and families, starting with the creation of Delton Parents Unite and Support, which quickly grew to over 1,000 members.
The group’s efforts led to the founding of The Shack, a free clothing resource that started in a Delton Kellogg middle school classroom and later moved to a dedicated storefront in downtown Delton. The building has been generously donated for our use by Barry County Telephone Company (BCTC) and MEI Telecom Services, with utilities and upkeep for the facility paid by the charitable donations to the Delton ROCKS fund.
Today, The Shack gives away thousands of clothing items every month and serves as a symbol of the community’s commitment to caring for its own. Each September, the annual Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Walk continues to unite our community and neighboring communities in love, awareness, and support.
